De-stressing in 2020! (Tips and tricks.)
Hi, I’m Paul Krismer, your happiness expert, and boy, in recent weeks, we sure have been talking about a lot of heavy stuff. You know, in fact, it’s been months now: coronavirus, the whole issue of racism, that terrible economy, and of course, all of our ordinary lives carry on too, and there’s a lot going on. So, there’s a lot of reason that we’ve been feeling some angst, and one thing I haven’t been saying in recent videos is, “Hey, relax,” because well, that’s not easy to do. But finding a way to relax is not a bad piece of advice, and this video is about that.
As a coach, public speaker, and best-selling author, I teach topics just like this one all around the world. So, stay tuned, and I’ll give you practical tools that you can use to make both yourself and those around you both happier and more successful. Yeah, so tons of stuff is going on in our lives. Like, tons is going on, and you know, it’s okay if you feel like you’re caught up in the angst, the emotional context of our world, and all the difficulty that that poses. But if you can, it’s great to take an opportunity to really get away, deeply relax.
You can see from the scenery here, like that’s what I’m doing. I’m deep, deep in the backcountry on Vancouver Island, on a beautiful little jewel of a lake. I’m here with people that I love, a couple of them right here on the boat with me, fishing line in the water, campfires, no media, no social media, no cell phone connection, we’re just here chillin. And yeah, it’s not the best camping weather because you can see the little sprinkle coming down behind me, but everything here is gorgeous, it’s silent, we’re all relaxed, we’re taking care of one another. People taking turns doing dishes, we’re making food for one another, there’s a cute, teeny-weeny little dog in the boat here, all covered up in a t-shirt and little jacket which looks ridiculous.
This is one way that we’re employing to both deepen our relationships, and most importantly, just kind of get away from everything. And if you can’t do that right now, you know, there’s lots of little ways you can do it. Maybe it’s a trip to the park, a day trip. Maybe it’s a media-free day for you. There’s lots of things you could be doing. And ideally, if you could do something like this, get completely away, be in nature, turn off all of the electronics, be with people that you love, and remind them, and have them remind you, how important those relationships are. And if there’s anything that we can be doing to cope with these difficult times, perhaps more than anything else I’ve suggested in recent weeks, this one is the most restorative.
So, wherever you are, I’m wishing you relaxation and something that feels like vacation. And if you can’t vacate from where you usually are, then maybe you can do a staycation for a day or two.
